Activation: key basic principles

  1. At the left bottom corner of the License or Protection Manager there is a button to switch the interface language to English.
  2. For activation, a one-off connection is made with the activation server: http://activation.esdnow.com [port 80]. If you want, you can include or except this link in your proxy server or firewall settings.
  3. To activate, you always need a user account, an email address and a password. This means you always have to create a user account first.
  4. You can enter an email address and receive your password via ‘License Manager’ (local activation screen) or via the web page for license management. If you have not received a message within 5 minutes, check if the message can be found in the ‘unsolicited email’ folder. If you have not received any email at all, enter your email address again and click on ‘Retrieve password’.
  5. You can change your password via http://sso.esdnow.com/portal. Select ‘Settings - Change password’ after logging in.
  6. A license (activation of a PC, client or server) is linked to a single user account (e.g. created by a license or application manager). A license can never be linked to two user accounts.
  7. The license will also be linked to one or more computer IDs. The maximum number of computer IDs is decided when the license is purchased and can be extended, if necessary.
  8. Once an activation code has been used for activation, the option ‘Activate again or update activation automatically via internet’ or downloading a 'license file' via the web page for license management will suffice for later activation on a different computer with the same activation code.
In other words: after the first activation, the license only needs to be downloaded.
  9. The license administrator will determine whether user account data (email address and password) is given to other users. A different user can use a user account to activate one or more PCs and consume licenses that way.
  10. If a ‘license file’ has been deleted by accident, it can be easily retrieved using the option ‘Activate again or update activation automatically via internet’ or via the web page for license management. You will not use up any licenses if you do this on the same PC that was activated before.
  11. Activation/reactivation requires (local) administration rights (‘local admin’ rights). To use the application, you only need limited user rights.
  12. If there is a demo period, no more than one user can use the demo license on the same PC at any one time. A different user on the same PC will have no rights to the demo license.
